Albanopumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Power

Fifteen years after its release, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by Smashing Pumpkins remains one of the most influential albums in history. One of the precious few records that have shown to be beyond genres and trends. How many people you know own a copy? A lot of them. Maybe all. Albanopower are among these people. Headed by Lorenzo Urciullo - also known as Colapesce, and the person who took it upon himself to coordinate the project - the Sicilian band embarked on a mad quest to pay tribute to Billy Corgan and friends' genius. 26 songs, over two hours of music. A work of sheer, beautiful madness, made possible with the help of over fifty musicians, all selected among their friends and longtime collaborations, who revisited their favourite tracks on the album or worked directly with Albanopower. A tribute within a tribute. A way of playing with songs that have helped shape music as we know it, with no reverence and a whole lot of respect. Enjoy.

Quindici anni dopo la sua uscita, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" degli Smashing Pumpkins continua a essere un disco importante. Uno di quelli - pochi - capaci di andare al di là dei generi e delle mode. Quante persone conoscete che hanno una copia di questo disco in casa? Tante, tantissime, forse tutte. Sicuramente ce l'hanno gli Albanopower che, capitanati da Lorenzo Urciullo - anche noto come Colapesce, che si è sobbarcato il compito di tirare le fila del progetto - hanno deciso di cimentarsi in un'impresa folle. Il remake integrale del capolavoro di Billy Corgan e compagni. 28 canzoni per più di due ore di musica. Una pazzia. Sono stati aiutati da più di cinquanta musicisti, tutti selezionati tra le amicizie del gruppo, che si sono dedicati a rivisitare interi brani, oppure a collaborare tra di loro e con gli Albano. Una sorta di tributo nel tributo. Un modo per giocare con canzoni che hanno fatto la storia della musica, senza provare nessun tipo di timore reverenziale. Rispetto sì, e tanto. Buon ascolto.

DREAM - L’Italia capitanata da Patrizia Panico vuole gettare il cuore oltre l’ostacolo alla ricerca di un exploit sensazionale. Il desiderio azzurro fluttua tra lo slogan “Yes We Can” di Barack Obama e il celeberrimo “I Have a Dream” di Martin Luther King. La colonna sonora? Vista la stagione e l’evento, c’è l’accattivante “Dream Song” che, nonostante sia in inglese e la musica sembri realizzata nell’Illinois, è di Alberto Arcangeli da Urbino.
